It’s official. I am now 29 years old.
Kept the celebration pretty mellow. Went to TGIF in The Toes with AK47, Meta and his friend, and then Jigga-Who/Jigga-What rolled out.
Apparently we all had something to celebrate:
- I, of course, had my b-day
- AK47 passed her MPRE
- Jigga-Who found out his wife’s Visa got approved and she will be coming to the USofA next week. He got married in February, came back here, she stayed in India, and they haven’t seen each other since. This is how we Indians do it.
- Meta’s girly friend had an interview at some firm in Irvine, which she think she bombed. But whatever, we celebrate both failures and successes.
- As for Meta, well, i guess he didn’t have much to celebrate aside from being stuck in traffic. For 3.5 hours. Now, normally 3.5 hours would be a bit nuts, but as it turns out, it was 2 hours one way, 1.5 hours on the way back. WTF? 2 hours is normal for LA. I’ve done it several times. Stop whining!
All in all, good times...had a drink and some shots. And then came home.

The annual Long Beach Grand Prix rolled into town this past weekend, and the Racing Crew decided to go Hardcore style and hit it up on both Saturday and Sunday: Bryan, Courtney, Billy and myself.
Highlight of the weekend was the Inaugural Long Beach Drifting Challenge on Sunday. Saw some pretty sweet cars doing some insanely mad drifts and spinouts around some pretty sharp corners. Pretty sweet race, but rather short, around half an hour and 10-15 laps.
On Saturday we got hungry and decided to get some food at the Sunfish Grill. Last year they had some decently priced margaritas ($3 each or so), so we though this year it would be The Place to be. Well, they didn’t have any deals and it wasn’t as fun as last year. Anyway, we sat down for some food, and this dude next to us looked really familiar. I realized it was Johnny Mountain from ABC 7 News. We debated on this matter for a while and Courtney snapped a picture. Turns out I had my Channel 7 news people mixed up. It was actually Garth Kemp, not Johnny Mountain. We’re pretty sure it was him, but we didn’t ask for his autograph. He looked pretty disheveled and was sportin a 3 day beard. We were scared.

Good episode of Lost tonight. Boone bit it, but it wasn’t totally unexpected. He was pretty FUBAR’ed up from his injuries in the last episode.
Initially I thought someone else might die, like Claire. But she had her baby instead. Maybe they’ll name him Boone, to carry on his spirit.
Whoa. I know whats going to happen next…
::::: BEGIN SPOILERS :::::
Mysterious forces on the island will age the baby super fast, and the kid will turn into an adult by the end of the season, Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock style. As the baby grows, people will slowly begin to see strange and eerie resemblences to Boone, until they realize that ....* IT IS IN FACT BOONE!!!*
Boone Reincarnated. Boone v2.0. Boone Squared.
::::: END SPOILERS :::::
I predict great things happening by the end of this season.

Holy crap! Did ya’ll see 24 tonight?
I heard from several sources about this being an episode not to miss, and that Fox would be airing repeats 2 more times later this week.
Finally revealed was Mitch Anderson’s mission. I figured that when he was shown hijacking the plane, chances were that he’d be going to shoot down Air Force One. That was pretty much a given. Of course, I also thought Jack Badass Bauer would somehow stop him.
Holy crap! Jack could not stop him! Mitch fired off a rocket at Air Force One! Pretty freackin ballsy, if you ask me, of the writers to actually make this happen. However, AF1 was not completely destroyed, but suffered an “indirect hit.” Lame, IMO. They took a chance by doing this, so why not go all the way and blow it up completely?
Well, it was a worthy episode, but in the end, probably not the best of the season.
Thoughts on future shows:
- I believe this is a prelude to the return of David Palmer. The VP, now President, won’t know shit about being President, and will enlist the expertise of David Palmer.
- What else is a Habib Marwan up to? I dunno. Chances are he’s got like 5 other things lined up, and with about 8 more hours to go, i’d bet theres plenty of time for more havoc to be wreaked. And Behroooooooouz is still alive I believe. Habib will tell him the Americans killed his mother, and Behroooooooouz will get super angry and seek revenge on Jack Bauer.

I’m not a huge fan of drag racing, and have never been to an event. But reading a story like this, you wonder how the hell something like this could happen.

Finally checked out Body Worlds 2 at the California Science Center. Body Worlds 2 is the sequel exhibit to the highly successful and original Body Worlds, which gained a lot of publicity and controversy during its run.
Pretty amazing stuff. I’m curious as to how the process of Plastination works. By far the most fascinating display was that of the human development process, starting with embryos to an actual series of displays of a fetus in its mother’s body. Crazy stuff. Definitely worth checking out.
A bit of warning: this is not for the faint of heart. This exhibit displays REAL human bodies, and I must confess that I got a bit woozy for a few minutes after stepping in. But once you get over the initial shock, if you’d like to call it that, the whole experience is a great learning experience.
We then hit up Thai food at a place called Chow Chao Krung on Fairfax, near Beverly. Good food, good company. Good times.
