Oh man, I got goosebumps! Here it is! Go Jack Bauer!

Oh man, I got goosebumps! Here it is! Go Jack Bauer!

Yes it is! 24 awarded Best Drama Series in Emmy Awards!
Is Kiefer the best actor on television? Yes he is! Kiefer awarded Best Actor!

Did Grey’s Anatomy win any of their 11 nominations? No! Cause it blows!
24 is the best show on television, aside from Battlestar Galactica, and it finally received vindication tonight. Good stuff.
And on a related, AK mentioned the other day that Kal Penn will be appearing on the 6th season of 24. Awesome! Somehow, this most excellent news never made it to my inbox. I like Kal Penn, and I hope he plays a good guy with a non-Indian accent, cause he’s cool like that.
He will play a guy who is somehow involved with the Islamic guru running the neighborhood mosque and might be the key to a terrorist plot.
This does not bode well for our friend Kal, but I still hope he is a good guy. Kal shouldn’t be taking any roles portraying stereotypical characters, except if it is Taj Mahal Badalandabad from Van Wilder. I don’t want to see Jack Bauer kicking his ass.

Fox drama “24” leads Emmy series nominations
Espionage thriller “24,” a perennial favorite with 11 previous wins, topped the list of series contenders with 12 nominations, including a bid for best drama.
12 nominations! Keifer nominated for Best Actor, and President Charles Logan and Martha Logan nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Actress.
Sweet!

Great article in Guardian Unlimited about Kiefer Sutherland and 24. In the article, Keifer alludes to what we might see in season 6.
...season six will take a slightly different turn. ‘We’ve had five years of him saving a large thing; this one’s much more about him saving his own ass. He’ll go from being the one who hunts people down to the one who’s being hunted, so that in itself turns the show around.’
Some facts:

One of the most exciting and excellent seasons of 24 has come to an end, and what a season it was. Some of our favorite characters died (Tony, Edgar, President David), and we were introduced to new heros and villians.
I found the season finale to be quite good. How sweet would it have been if Jack tortured Logan to get him to confess. But, to see Logan finally go down was satisfying. Although, I would’ve preferred if he was killed by the people he was working for.
Perhaps we’ll see that happens next season with his inevitable return. He’ll most definitely want revenge on Jack Bauer. And what about Jack? Our favorite hero has been abducted by the Chinese, who have clearly not forgotten that he killed (but not really), their ambassador last season. Oh to see Jack beat up, begging for death, was heartbreaking. More heartbreaking then watching him walk off into the sunrise at the end of season 5.
It’s going to be a long 8 months until Day 6 begins in January 2007, but i’ll be waiting patiently. See you next year, Jack!
Two thoughts on the latest installment:
1. I really dug the music during the last 20 minutes. It was very James Bond’ish, and had a very cool retro feel to it, reminiscent of old spy films...probably some of the best music in 24 so far. Props to the composer.
2. How was Jack Bauer able to get away? Henderson’s men got into it with the cops, then the military showed up, who took out the remaining bad guys. Jack and Brother Palmer hopped into an empty police car and took off. Didn’t the military see them leaving?
Dude...24 is absolutely nuts. First David Palmer. Last week it was Edgar Stiles, quite a likeable fellow. And now, the great Tony Almeida, with us since Season 1, one of Jack Bauer’s bestest and truest friends, the one guy Jack could turn to when he had no one else, has joined them. Tony Almeida is dead.
Thanks for all the good times Tony. You will be missed.

Jacktracker! Brought to you by Gridskipper, the urban travel blog. Follow Jack Bauer as he makes his way around Los Angeles (and the world) on Day 5 of 24, the hit Fox TV show. Updates and detailed episode information will be posted on Gridskipper, generally every Tuesday. All photos are linked to Flickr, where you will find detailed information about each photo, including arcane Los Angeles trivia, filming gaffes, and additional information about various shoots and locales.
This site gives some detailed breakdown on the geographic realities in the show. Take for example:
Jack & Derek: Wayne Palmer’s Westwood Condo to Ontario (California) International Airport via stolen car: 56 miles over 17 minutes = 195 mph. Impossible.

Watching the first few minutes of 24 here, and the commercials weren’t kidding around when they said everything would change in the first 10 minutes.
HOLY-FUCKING-CRAP!!!!!!!!!
Palmer...DEAD! Michelle...DEAD! Tony...almost dead!
What is going on?!
Update:
So now that I’ve had some time to get over the initial shock from the first ten minutes of 24, here are my thoughts/analysis. Overall, I think it was an excellent start to a new season. None of the previous season openers have been as exciting as this one.
Highlights:
That is all for now. 9:00am - 11:00am tomorrow!
