Spyker Leno

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

All the late night talk shows have been reruns recently due to the writer’s strike. Leno has been showing older shows from back in the mid 90s. Today’s episode had George Clooney and magician David Copperfield. Copperfield had an uncanny resemblance to David Hasselhoff in the 90s, with his leather jacket and tight jblack eans. Remember when Lance Burton was on Knight Rider as a villian? That was a good episode.

Mel Gibson was on the other day. I’m amazed at how old skool everyone looks, with their 90’s double-breasted suits and sport coats.

I remember when I thought people looked old skool in the 80s. Now I find myself thinking how old everyone looks from the 90s. Goddamn i’m getting old.

Here’s a photo of the Spyker cars at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. More coming soon...probably.

KITT

KITT

The Ford Shelby GT500KR is KITT. Knight Industries Three Thousand.

I’m ok with the stripes on Shelby Mustangs, but not with stripes on KITT. Since they’re a signature element on Shelbys, however, the creators probably had to leave them on to appease Shelby. KITT would’ve looked badass minus the stripes though. Let’s see how this plays out on television.

Holy shit, no wonder the country is screwed up! WTF was this dude smoking when he came up with this crazy analogy? Good thing we have Nimoy and Takei to clear things up.

Tonight, Tonight, Tonight

Ahhhh, Miami Vice and Phil Collins/Genesis. An excellent pairing and pure awesomeness as evidenced by the clip below.

Miami Vice Season 1 is currently at the top of my Netflix que. Sweet!

24 Day 5

Tuesday, December 06, 2005

So there’s a short prequel to the new season of 24, on the 24 Season 4 DVD set.

The basic premise is that 12 months after faking his own death, Jack Bauer is on the run, and living in Chicago. Jack sets up a meeting with Chloe, who I guess i’m glad to see return. Jack pulls up in a Toyota Avalon, wearing a hoodie, and Chloe pulls up in a Toyota Echo. She meets Jack, Jack removes hood, and we see he is sporting rock star style long hair. She informs him that she was tracked through The Internets opening up Jack’s autopsy report, which led whoever was doing the tracking to conclude that Jack wasn’t really dead after all. Chloe tells Jack to get the hell outta Dodge, and then leaves.

Jack gets back into his Toyota Avalon, and sees some dude (or chick) drive up in a motorcycle, prompting Jack to sense something not right, and cautiously puts his car in reverse. Motorcycle driver is wearing a dark helmet so we can’t see who it is.  A minute later, an older generation BMW 5 series, races out of a corner. Jack steps on the gas and takes off in reverse, in an attempt to escape.

This leads to a high speed persuit on the streets of Chicago, with Jack eventually leading the BMW into an industrial courtyard. He rounds a corner at high speed, BMW 5 Series can’t handle the corner (right), and it runs sideways into a parked forklift, with one of the forks piercing the drivers side window. Presumably, the driver is dead.

Jack stops and observes his handiwork, puts his hoodie back on, and drives away. Motorcycle driver pulls up and watches Jack drive away.

Anyway, nothing too mind-blowingly interesting revealed in this prequel. Jack thought he was safe, but not anymore.

That aside, why the hell is Jack Bauer driving a Toyota Avalon?! A badass like himself would never drive a car like that. Of course, Toyota probably paid millions of dollars to sponsor the prequel and for product placement. I would’ve put him in a 350Z, or maybe a Land Cruiser.

Looking forward to the premiere in January.

Oprah on Letterman

Friday, December 02, 2005

Thoughts while watching: Dave’s infatuation with Oprah is just too whacky. Not only am I getting tired of him speaking of how great a person she is, but I’m also getting creeped out.

I like Dave. He’s a funny guy. But this whole Oprah on Letterman thing is just nuts.

Jimmy kimmel is doing a bit at Costco. Much more entertaining, IMO.

Oh, Defamer transcribes here how the event went down.
