Top Gear feat. Audi RS4, Chrysler 300C, etc.

Saturday, December 03, 2005

Top Gear is this really great car show on the BBC, profiling exotics and other fast automobiles. Super well done, great cinematography, great music, and funny hosts. I dont think we get it here in the States, but damn, I wish we did. Perhaps its available on satellite.

They recently did a great piece on the Audi RS4, which Google Video has available for viewing, and it looks pretty sweet:

.

Here’s another great piece featuring the Mitsubithi Lancer Evolution MR FQ400 going heads up against a Lamborghini Murcielago. The Evo is fast.

Another featuring the Chrysler 300C (nice car), going up against a Vauxhall Monaro (Holden) and a Jaquar S TypeR.....on a beach.

And finally, all the Google Video results featuring Top Gear clips.

Great show.

Jeff Gordon Wins at Martinsville

Monday, October 24, 2005

Gordon finally gets another victory this season, but its a little too late since he’s already missed the Chase. Come on Gordon/Hendrick Motorsports, get your act together before next year and win some races earlier in the season.

In other news, White Sox are up 2 games. I haven’t watched any of the World Series, and don’t plan to. I really only enjoy watching my Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

IRL looking into postrace confrontation between Patrick, Lazier

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

From Yahoo News:

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—The Indy Racing League will look into a confrontation between Danica Patrick and Jaques Lazier that took place after the drivers bumped and wrecked during the season-ending race at California Speedway.

The two rode in the same ambulance to the track medical center after they collided and crashed while battling for eighth place late in Sunday’s race. Patrick came away with a sore elbow and Lazier was not hurt, but both blamed the other for the wreck.

Patrick, the IRL’s only woman and the series rookie of the year, denied media reports that she punched Lazier, a veteran.

Brent Maurer, a spokesman for Patrick’s Rahal Letterman Racing team, said the driver told him she tapped Lazier on the forehead with two fingers and said, “You’ve got to use this.’’

Lazier told the Indianapolis Star for a story in Monday editions that he didn’t want to go into detail about their quarrel, but said, “Look, we had a difference of opinion about what happened, and we were both emotional. If she said she hit me on the temple with her fingers, that’s fine. It doesn’t matter. My son hits harder than she does.’’

Lazier’s son is 4 years old.

IRL spokesman John Griffin told The Associated Press that the sanctioning organization will investigate.

“There are two sides to every story,’’ he said. We’ll look into it and try to get to the bottom of what happened.’’

His 4 year old son hits harder than she does?! Bwahaha. Lazier deserves a beating after a comment like that.

In my opinion, it was his fault. Dude bumped her once going around the turn, then bumped her again 2 seconds later, causing them both to spin and wreck. Look at the replay in super slow-mo, and admit it was your fault. Idiot.

Dodge/Save Mart 350

Saturday, June 25, 2005

Jeff Gordon has been in a slump the last few races, with seveal DNFs. This week, he, along with all the other NASCAR drivers, hits Sonoma’s Infenion Raceway. Road courses are Gordon’s specialty, and not surprisingly, he qualified on pole, along with Jimmie Johnson starting 2nd.

He set a new speed qualifying record of 94.325 mph, breaking the previous track record of 94.303 mph, which he also set.

Last year, he won from the pole, and hopefully he’ll do the same this year. Gordon is currrently 12th in points, dropping 3 places after last weeks race, 406 points back from the leader. If all goes well on Sunday, he should pick up 3-4 spots and put himself back in contention for the championship.

Formula One vs. NASCAR

Monday, June 13, 2005

Formula One is much more exciting than NASCAR, IMO. I watch and follow NASCAR religiously, but if both are on at the same time, as was the case this past Sunday, I will watch Formula One.

That is all for now.

Jeff Gordon Wrecked

Monday, June 06, 2005

Freakin Tony Stewart bumped Jeff Gordon in Lap 41, wrecking him, and resulting in Gordon’s 5th DNF for the season.

Said Gordon to Stewart: “All I can say that the next time Tony’s holding me up, it won’t be very long for him to be out of my way.”

Tony Stewart: you are a major hoto.

Indy 500, Coca Cola 600

Tuesday, May 31, 2005

Memorial Day brings two great races in one day - the Indy 500 and Coca Cola 600. Past races have been a bit of a let down. This year promised to bring some excitement, at least to the Indy 500, with Danica Patrick (R) running her first race.

Danica ran one of the fastest times in qualifying and/or time trials...I can’t remember which. She’s been receiving a ton of press, and rightly so, being the first woman to have a shot at winning the race. And she almost got it. After making a few rookie mistakes during the first 3/4 of the race, Danica took the lead, and maintained it for around 15 laps. However, her fuel situation was not good, as she was running low, and eventually began to fall back, finishing 4th.

This was one of the best Indy 500 races in years, and I was on the edge of my seat during the last laps of the race. I had my pretend money on Danica, and she almost won. But she’s only a rookie, and this race proved that she’s legit, and able to run with the best of them. If she maintains this level of excellence through the rest of the season, she’ll definitely win some races, and i’m sure she’ll win the Indy 500 at some point in her career.

Next up: Coca Cola 600...the longest NASCAR race of the season, and it couldn’t have been any better.

Crazy wrecks, my boy Jeff Gordon leading a ton of laps, only to be wrecked by teammate Brian Vickers (eventually finishing 30th), and my second favorite driver Jimmy Johnson winning the race, after an insane last 3-4 laps in a nose-to-nose battle with Bobby Labonte.

I was on the edge of my seat, again, the whole time. Jimmy was fast, but as the laps went by, it seemed like he didn’t have enough time to make his pass, but somehow he did, passing Labonte seconds before the finish line in a spectacular photo finish.

Good race weekend overall.
