Jeff Gordon has been in a slump the last few races, with seveal DNFs. This week, he, along with all the other NASCAR drivers, hits Sonoma’s Infenion Raceway. Road courses are Gordon’s specialty, and not surprisingly, he qualified on pole, along with Jimmie Johnson starting 2nd.
He set a new speed qualifying record of 94.325 mph, breaking the previous track record of 94.303 mph, which he also set.
Last year, he won from the pole, and hopefully he’ll do the same this year. Gordon is currrently 12th in points, dropping 3 places after last weeks race, 406 points back from the leader. If all goes well on Sunday, he should pick up 3-4 spots and put himself back in contention for the championship.
