The Prestige

The Prestige. Wow. I thought The Departed was one of the best films of the year when I saw it a few weeks ago, but I’m going to have to add this movie to my exclusive list. Folks, this is a great movie.
Most of you may know the basic premise of The Prestige. If not, here it is from the official movie site:
From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them.
That sets up the basic storyline of the movie, but its best to go into it not knowing anything more, as I did. It’ll be a much better experience that way.
Of course, this review would not be complete without a mention of one of the best actors in cinema today: Christian Bale. I may be a little biased here because of my man-crush on Christian Bale, but his acting is excellent as always, althought a bit hard to understand at some points because of his heavy English accent.
I plan on getting the book by Christopher Priest next. I’m sure it’ll be as good, if not better, than the movie.
